Brown on 57

The guys behind the Brown chain of coffee shops have now opened their third branch (well, actually, a couple of weeks ago) – on the corner of St 57 and 294 in BKK1 – and the brand’s concept just keeps getting better!

The new space is the most attractive so far, with brick, brushed cement and plenty of natural wood as usual making for a very pleasant interior environment. However, there is also much more of a indoor/outdoor feel to the new premises due to the extensive window curtain-walls along two sides of the building opening out onto plenty of outdoor seating, for those cursed with the nicotine habit.

And the menu is a little different. There aren’t the salads we have come to expect but in their place is a more comprehensive breakfast menu that includes the popular Mexican breakfast dish Huevos Rancheros, plus Spanish Omelette and Fruit Pancakes.

As usual, the prices are very competitive and the coffee has set a new standard – at least for BKK1!

Some have questioned why the guys opened another outlet so close to their existing one on St 51? Actually, it’s proved a smart move because Brown 2 was almost always crowded. Now people can quickly decamp to the new one around the corner when there are no seats available at 51.

It will be interesting to see which one becomes the more popular?
